Party-Representative Ethics: Time To Move The Needle? (24 January 2019)

About the Seminar:
The problem of ethics in international arbitration has assumed increasing importance in the past decade. It is particularly challenging to regulate the conduct of party representatives who come from different regulatory regimes and traditions.
There are two broad areas of controversy. First, the content of any such guidelines. Secondly, the status or enforceability of any guidelines. SIArb has already taken a position on the content with the publication of its Guidelines on Party-Representative Ethics on 26 April 2018. No doubt, the content will be monitored and revised periodically with the benefit of feedback. Finding a practical solution to the second controversy is harder. What status can be conferred on any guidelines? How can we make these effective rather than a pious declaration?
SIArb has assembled a panel of leading thinkers in international arbitration to catalyse the search for a concrete solution.
This brainstorming session will benefit from the collective wisdom of all who work in this field, be they practitioners, arbitrators, regulators or academics. SIArb looks forward to your attendance and participation.

Join us for free flow of wines, beers, soft drinks and food after the seminar!
