The Institute has entered into the Memorandum of Understanding and Co-Operation with the following organisations to jointly promote greater exchanges among members and synergise resources for greater co-operation for specific event programmes.
(i) The Malaysia Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb) (on 28 December 2004 at a signing ceremony hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
(ii) The Badan Arbitrase Nasional Indonesia (BANI) on 6 May 2005.
(iii) The Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia (IAMA) (on 28 May 2005 at the 30th Annual Conference by IAMA held in Canberra, Australia).
(iv) The Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (HKIArb) on 5 May 2006
(v) The Singapore Manufacturers' Federation (SMa) on 22 February 2007
(vi) The Arbitration Association of Brunei Darussalam on 12 July 2007
SINGAPORE CHAMBER OF MARITIME ARBITRATORS (SCMA)
The Institute is one of the supporting organisations of the Singapore
Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) which was officially launched by
the Minister of State for Finance and Transport Mrs Lim Hwee Hua on 8
November 2004. Other founding and supporting organizations are the Singapore
Maritime Foundation, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the
Singapore Maritime Arbitrators Association & the Maritime Lawyers
Association of Singapore. The Institute will lead the role as the training
facilitator for the new entrants in maritime arbitration and also provide
continuing professional development for practising maritime arbitrators.
INTERNATIONAL
ARBITRATION JOURNAL
The Institute with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC)
to publish an international arbitration journal entitled "Asian Journal
of International Arbitration" (AIAJ). The AIAJ is a bi-annual publication
by Kluwer Law International. The inaugural issue was released in August
2005.
ARBITRATION
RESEARCH PROJECT
The Institute collaborated with the National University of Singapore (NUS)
on a research project entitled "The Impact of International Commercial
Arbitration in Singapore". The project team from NUS is led by Associate
Professor Dr Philip Chan (the Principal Investigator) and assisted by
Dr Evelyn Teo (Co-Principal Investigator) and Mr Ajibade Ayodeji Aibinu
(Graduate Student Researcher) from the Department of Building, School
of Design & Environment, National University of Singapore.
CIDC-SIAC ARBITRATION CENTRE IN INDIA
The Institute also signed another MOU on 15 June 2005 with the Construction
Industry Development Council (CIDC) India and the Singapore International
Arbitration Centre (SIAC) on maintaining a body of trained and equipped
professionals to serve on the Panel of Arbitrators of the CIDC-SIAC Arbitration
Centre in India.
